On 22 Sep CAF's Samson Adamu briefed Museveni after inspecting Uganda's venues. Stadiums drew praise; accommodation outside Kampala and the missing single visa did not (Daily Monitor, 22 Sep; The EastAfrican, 23 Sep). Museveni: "The Kampala area has the facilities, but now the challenge is upcountry." Kick-off is 19 Jun 2027 (Nile Post, 22 Sep).

The same day HVS published Houston's World Cup result: ~500,000 visitors, occupancy flat at 61.6%, ADR +5.8%, match-eve spikes of ~52–53% (HVS/CoStar, 22 Sep). Across all 11 US host cities, occupancy fell below baseline in seven, rate rose in all, and group business moved elsewhere (HVS, 7 Aug).

What everyone is missing. AFCON is two tournaments. Kampala, Nairobi and Dar will be priced, not filled, in the weeks safari and conference guests already sleep there. Hoima is the reverse: permanent rooms for a four-week event.

The EAC says ~US$45m is needed for regional Ebola and haemorrhagic-fever response, and is asking partners for it. Its mobile lab network, including posts at Busia and Bwera, stands at 10 labs in seven states, target 34 by end-2027.
